Minutes

February 17, 2009 • 5:30 p.m.

 

Thirty members and several visitors were in attendance Tuesday, February 17, 2009, for the monthly meeting of the Brownsville Business Association held at the Delta Room. Members present were: Kristy Alexander, Betty Morris, Monica Bivins, Scottie Morris, Jane Tribble, Pat Weaver, Andrea Johnson, Holly Haak, Pat Bailey, Calvin Carter, Richard Carraway, Joe Ing, Kay Kirkland, Ann Lytle, Albert and Paulette Campbell, Terry Knight, Vickie and Andrew Cooper, Jean Carney, John and Charlotta Ashworth, Harvey Livingston, Kent Moore, Daniel Thornton, Jessica Sipes, Betty Williams, David Levy, Billy Tripp and Sonia Outlaw-Clark.

President Sonia Outlaw-Clark called the meeting to order and welcomed new members and visitors. Vice-President Albert Campbell opened with prayer.

 

Reports

·     Minutes of the January 20, 2009 meeting were presented and approved.

·     Treasurer Jean Carney presented the financial report. Balance as of date is $8015.24. There were no questions and report was approved as presented.

New Business

 

Program:

Brownsville Mayor Webb Banks presented a program on the planned renovations for downtown. He showed a drawing and discussed the lighting, and brick pavers that will be installed. During the renovations, the cannon will be moved to another location on the courthouse lawn and brick crosswalks will also be installed. This project is funded by a state grant, with 20% match from local government, and is predicted to begin in August and take approximately 3.5 months to complete.

 

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting of the BBA will be at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, at the Delta Room (behind Backyard Barbecue), 703 East Main.
