Minutes
Twenty-two members were in
attendance for the January 20, 2009, BBA meeting held at The Delta Room.
Members present were Sonia Outlaw Clark, Richard Carraway, David Levy, Holly
Haak, Joe Ing, Calvin Carter, Kristy Alexander, Darlene Knox, Terry Knight,
Betty Williams, Hazel Pittman, Kay Kirkland, Pat Bailey, Jean Carney, Daniel
Thornton, Betty Morris, Scottie Morris, Harvey Livingston, Jerry Rogers, Ann
Lytle, Albert Campbell and Joe Stephens.
Sonia Outlaw-Clark called the
meeting to order and Albert Campbell opened with prayer. The minutes of the
December meeting were passed out to all the members and approved as
written. Jean Carney presented the treasurer report, which was also
approved as presented.
Eleven new members were
welcomed to the BBA. They are A Family Affair, Willie German Equipment, Baked
Goods, Etc., C & S Heating & Air, Frank Fawcett Services, Kreme Kastle,
Drycon Carpet Cleaning, Take Away Gourmet, P & M Frame Shop, Mary & Shannon
Hopper and Peggy’s Resale Shop.
Nominating Committee
chairperson Betty Williams presented the nominees for 2009 Board of Directors
and opened the floor for additional nominations. There being no nominations
from the floor, members voted by acclamation to accept the board as presented.
The 2009 Board of Directors are Albert Campbell, Darlene Knox, Betty Morris,
Harvey Livingston, Kay Kirkland, Andrea Bond Johnson and Sonia Outlaw Clark.
Ron
Acree, director of the Tennessee Small Business Development Centers, presented
a short program on what the TSBDC does and his role in Haywood County. After
some discussion, members asked for a program offering survival tips for small
business. A seminar was planned for Thursday, February 5, at noon and 5:30 p.m.,
and held at the Chamber of Commerce. All were encouraged to attend.
Meeting was adjourned with the
reading of the mission statement. Next meeting is February 17, 2009.
