Jessica Sipes of C & S Heating and Air was welcomed to our group.

The Rescue Squad’s our special guest tonight speaking to us about the Christmas Parade  (December 6) and encouraging all businesses and churches to get involved.  There will be a grand prize for the best entry in the parade and want local business to donate gift certificates and gifts for the prize. There will not be any candy thrown from the floats or cars in the parade.  The rescue squad has plenty of candy they will be handing out to the kids.  There was talk of getting Rex Barnes’s horse and carriage to carry Santa in the parade.  The rescue squad said we could use their little house for Santa to use on the square or the vacant lot.  There will be a tree lighting ceremony.

Holiday Open House November 2, 2008: The businesses that will be participating will be open from 1-4 on the Sunday the 2nd.  A grand prize will be given, and to be eligible you must have visited every business and had your card stamped by every business to win. You do not have to be present to win; the winner will be posted in all the business that participated.  Talked a lot about how to get people back into our businesses after the contest.

Holiday in Haywood November 14, 15, &16: Right now we have 15 entries. We have space for 30 booths. This is the biggest day for the pre holiday shopping.

Lot report: Mayor said he would be willing to help out with the lot.  A lot of discussion about tables, sod, planters, cotton trailers and shrubs.  The sod and sidewalk repair should be done before the Fall Fest.  There was lot of talk about picnic tables that convert into benches.

Our local newspaper and radio will have special rates for BBA members to promote their business for the Christmas season.

Because of time allotment, the website demo was postponed until the October meeting. We all stood and read our Mission Statement.  Meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,
