Minutes

Nineteen
members and four visitors were in attendance for the May 20, 2008, BBA meeting
held at The Delta Room. Members present were Sonia Outlaw-Clark, Holly Haak,
Kristy Alexander, Ann Gardner, Richard Carraway, David Thornton, Kay Kirkland,
Albert & Paulette Campbell, Tim Stokely, Jerry C. Rogers, Ernest & Ann
Lytle, Betty Williams, Hazel Pittman, Darlene Knox, Joyce Moore, Joe Stephens
and Harvey Livingston.
Due to
time restraints, approval of the April meeting minutes and the Treasurer’s
Report are postponed until the next meeting, June 17, 2008.
Ann Gardner presented
the designs and details for the street banners. Banners will be on every fifth pole starting at I-40, Exit
56, leading into Brownsville.
There are two banner designs with a minimum order of 20 each. Costs are $400.00 for members and
$450.00 for non-members for a 2-year contract. Orders are now being accepted.
The proposed
Bylaws for the Brownsville Business Association were presented. After
discussions, motions were made, seconded and approved for each of the following
changes:
With no further
changed being made, a motion was made to accept the proposed Bylaws with the
above mention changes. A second was made and the motion was passed after a
unanimous vote. Bylaws are effective immediately.
Clinton Neal,
Director of the Haywood County Solid Waste, gave a talk on recycling. He explained where the recycling goes
and how the money is used when recycling is done. He encouraged all of us to do our part to reduce, reuse and
recycle to keep as much as possible out of the landfill.
